What is the Windows Registry?

Microsoft Windows has one central location (registry) where files are kept including those containing the settings and options for the operating system, software, hardware, and other functions that allow our computer systems to run smoothly if properly maintained. If registry repair and scans are not conducted, over time corrupt files can create a nightmare of symptoms for users.

Registry errors are created from software installs/de-installs, creating new users (due to preference keys), when chat programs are used, and when software is used to open new files. This can create a large registry size which requires compression. Each of these causes requires the need for registry repair through a complete registry scan on an ongoing basis.
