Having applications automatically start when you turn on your system is necessary for good usability but I’m now going to show you how you can disable some of the programs that you never use but are set on auto start. You’ll be amazed how many programs are listed.

• Go to Start menu
• Type in “msconfig” in the Search field and press Enter

Now select the Startup tab; here you can unmark all the applications that you don’t want to automatically start on start up. In this case I unchecked the program Skype. After you uncheck it click on OK.
And now you are asked if you want to reboot your system and after this you are finished.

What is User Account Control of Windows 7?

User Account Control (UAC) is a new security component in Windows 7. UAC enables users to perform common tasks as non-administrators, called Standard Users in Windows 7, and as Administrators without having to switch users, log off, or use Run As. A Standard User account is synonymous with a User account in Windows XP. User accounts that are members of the local Administrators group will run most applications as a Standard User. By separating user and administrator functions while enabling productivity, UAC is an important enhancement for Windows 7.
